International Women's Day 2006
Maintstreamed and meaningless?
Or more needed than ever to highlight women's issues?

Update 29th April 2005

Some idea of the responses so far
...

Parties' Women's Issues are .. " .. out of touch with women today ... " and the " ... economic system is anti woman .. "
Responses to A Manifesto for Women's Groups? show the pressure and frustration groups are working under "... Why is funding so fragile and time - limited? We are 51% of the population ... " and find dealing with Government " ... Patronising and defensive. Obsessed with service provision and box-ticking. ... "

Update 28th April 2005 - Clarification on Manifesto Survey Questions ... and ... Do you want to meet Tony Blair and ask him a question?

About legal/financial requirements eg. Requirement for Charities to have Management Committees / Boards is tokenistic representation of members / users. Leaves door open to mission drift and time wasted on trying to recruit.

About monitoring & stats requirements eg (to quote one respondent) 'It is a struggle to fulfil monitoring and stats requirements without the support of an admin worker.  Hard-pressed project staff are already juggling to provide front-line services.'
